According to realestate.com.au Victorian suburbs have been playing the biggest part in boosting Australia’s spring property market and Melbourne’s gentrified inner city and inner northern suburbs are among the highest in demand.

Fitzroy North, Northcote and Richmond have been named in the state’s top ten sellers’ list. The list is a ranking of suburbs by REA based on the number of listings compared to the number of visits to the ‘buy’ section for that suburb.

Craig Shearn, Director at Jellis Craig Inner North says this is reflective of the buyer demand for many older-style homes in close proximity to the city.

“Many suburbs on the list hold a lot of period homes, which are always in demand, there are also a significant number of baby boomers downsizing. They’ve come into the market with a lot of young professional couples and investors, all wanting to stay close to the city.”

At Jellis Craig we can offer you the latest market insights and our in-depth expertise of Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs.
