Here, Victoria shares her approach to curating a tablescape and an entry arrangement that brings people together through beautiful flowers and thoughtful detail.
How to curate a memorable tablescape
A beautifully styled table sets the tone for the gathering ahead. Flowers, tableware, and finishing touches should all follow a considered colour palette, allowing every element to work together to create an elegant and considered space.
Start with the base setting
A modern floral runner is the perfect way to anchor a table without obstructing conversation. The foundation begins with a simple shallow, rectangular vessel and a florist’s sponge. The arrangement should frame the moment, not dominate it. Keep the height of your blooms under 25cm to allow your guests to make eye contact across the table without peeking through flowers.Repeat the vessels along your table’s length.
Select complementary florals
Start with a bed of foliage to provide structure, followed by loosely placed blooms into the vessel at varied angles and heights for dimension. Choose lightly scented or unscented flowers to avoid overpowering your guests or clashing with the aromas of your mealSubtlety is key at the table. Think orchids or dahlias in tones that complement the setting.
Intentional layering
Tapered candles are a simple way to introduce height and mood, drawing the eye upward without distracting from the scene. From there, layer in considered accents like textured napkins, coloured glassware, charger plates, and touches of metallic or ceramic to break up the palette.
Place cards tucked with a single stem or petite cluster is your final flourish. A thoughtful detail that brings everything together and makes the occasion feel that little bit more special.
