Construction on St Vincent's Private Hospital's new 12-storey tower is progressing rapidly. The impressive $180 million expansion will increase patient capacity by 20,000 annually and will feature state-of-the-art facilities including new operating theatres, an expanded ICU, a dedicated chemotherapy centre, modern birthing suites and a special care nursery. The first phase is slated to open later this year, ushering in a new era of healthcare for the area.

Schools and early learning centres across the region are being comprehensively upgraded, ensuring access to exceptional facilities for a well-rounded education. Yarra Primary School will benefit from a $7.2 million classroom modernisation, scheduled for completion next year. Richmond Primary School will expand thanks to a $15 million investment, creating space for an additional 100 students by the end of 2026. For younger learners, Powlett Reserve Children's Centre and Kindergarten has already seen its play area redesigned for inclusivity. Yarra Park Children's Centre and Kindergarten is up next, with a brand-new kitchen planned for 2025.

Richmond's sporting scene is in for a winning season. The long-awaited $65 million renovation of Punt Road Oval, featuring new facilities for the women's team and an expanded grandstand, will be rolled out in stages. Burnley Golf Course recently benefitted from a $2.4 million refresh to enhance community safety and playability, and the council has plans to upgrade the Alan Bain Reserve cricket pitch.

Cyclists are also getting a boost with a 10-year plan underway to improve safety and accessibility throughout Richmond's network. Initiatives include pop-up testing at key intersections to implement bike lanes and safer turning options. Additionally, more than $7 million has been dedicated to enhancing safety measures along the busy Yarra Boulevard cycling and tourist route.

The $12 billion Metro Tunnel Project, expected to ease congestion and improve accessibility to the CBD upon completion in 2025, adds another layer to this infrastructure boom. 

These substantial investments paint an undeniably bright future for Richmond. With every project that breaks ground, this vibrant suburb further solidifies its place as one of inner-city Melbourne's most in-demand destinations.
