Construction has begun on the $50 billion Suburban Rail Loop from Cheltenham to Box Hill, which is on track for completion in 2035. The project is set to connect Bayside with major employment, health and education hubs in Melbourne’s east and southeast, slashing travel times and triggering investment.

The completion of Chain of Ponds at Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve (previously known as Elsternwick Park) marks a significant milestone in the council’s plans to transform the former golf course into an environmentally focused nature reserve. With over 100 indigenous plant species and a billabong, it provides a rich environment for native wildlife.

All 61 playgrounds in the municipality are being upgraded as part of a 10-year project to provide top-notch recreational spaces for Bayside’s littlest residents. Work is already complete at several playgrounds, including Old Dairy Reserve in Brighton East, Allambee Park in Sandringham, Robert Grieve Reserve in Brighton and Ashwood Avenue in Highett.

Meanwhile, a secure off-leash area at Wishart Reserve in Hampton East is set to get tails wagging. Designed by a dog agility landscape architect, the park will create an interactive space where dogs can play, explore, socialise and learn new tricks.
