Generational infrastructure projects are reshaping the landscape of the region, with a focus on improving connectivity and bolstering economic growth.

Construction and excavation are now underway on the $12 billion Metro Tunnel project from South Kensington to South Yarra. The track has been laid – a critical step towards train testing deep beneath Melbourne’s CBD in the second half of the year. When it opens in 2025, the tunnel will include the new Arden Station, easing congestion and dramatically enhancing accessibility to the CBD.

Work has begun on Pace Development Group’s flagship Darley project. The 14-storey tower at the Flemington Racecourse precinct is the first residential development at the site in its 182-year history. Featuring a racing-inspired horseshoe design by acclaimed architects ARM Architecture, the development will provide stunning views over the racecourse. Sales at the Epsom Road development have been strong, with more than 60 per cent of the 313 apartments on offer already snapped up.

Meanwhile, the $2 billion residential development at Moonee Valley Racecourse reached a major milestone earlier this year with the arrival of the first residents. When complete, the development will include 2000 dwellings, cafes, shops and 20 hectares of parkland. The racecourse has also been given the green light for a massive redevelopment complemented by bar and dining venues, a gym, and day spa. Construction will start in 2025, and when complete in mid-2027, 50,000 additional visitors are expected to inject $1 million annually into the local economy.
