Construction on the North East Link tunnels has begun, with work expected to be finished by 2027. The project will take 15,000 trucks off local roads and slash travel times by up to 35 minutes. The scope of the work includes a major overhaul to modernise the Eastern Freeway, a dedicated busway with a bus every minute during peak times, and 34km of new walking and cycling tracks.

A flurry of high-profile residential and commercial development continues to add to the Inner North’s reputation as an aspirational lifestyle destination. The YarraBend development of the 14-hectare historic paper mill site is well underway, promising a world-class mixed- use community across six precincts. The rejuvenation of the former Fitzroy Gasworks is also progressing well, with the iconic site to become a vibrant, sustainable village in the heart of the Inner North.
