Work continues at pace on key transport projects that will transform accessibility across the region. The $11 billion-plus Metro Tunnel is on track to open by 2025, with the twin tunnel excavation finished and work underway to build five new stations. Stages one and two of a comprehensive upgrade to relieve congestion at South Yarra Station are now complete. And two of Melbourne’s most dangerous level crossings – Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Road – have been fast-tracked for removal by 2023.

Plans to turn the Jam Factory on Chapel Street into a five-tower retail, residential, hotel and commercial precinct have been approved. The redevelopment will include 400 luxury residences, up to 200 rooms as part of a five-star hotel, a cinema upgrade and more than 18,500 sq m of retail space, and is set to open by 2025.
